The staff are all amazingly nice and incredibly helpful. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. It is HISTORIC so if you want to stay at a completely modernized location, then this isn't for you. The location is perfect and in walking distance to just about everything. The hotel has food options, but there are just so many great places you'll find it hard to decide. We love the pool area and the bar. (also comes with rich history) Make sure you take the time to see all this historic nuggets that the hotel and surrounding area have to provide. The rooms are quaint, clean and comfortable. The showers have great hot water and pressure. And again, the entire staff is amazing.

The hotel is in the center of San Antonio, right next to the Alamo. It is an historical hotel; the oldest West of the Mississippi. It was well maintained with exceptional architecture and cleanliness. The staff is friendly and very helpful, especially Tim Smith at the front desk. There is a lovely buffet available for lunches and brunches; one needs 2-3 stomachs to try everything. The hotel boasts a pool and a garden that you can sit in to read your paper. What will strike you when you first enter is the lovely scent, which was especially designed for it. The hotel is definitely value for money, and better than most 4-star hotels in New York.

Overall this is a great location. The hotel is connected to a plaza, which was under construction during our visit, but looked like it would be awesome. You are about 1-2 blocks away from a river walk exit. Majority of our trip was walking around and we only needed a call to get to the Historical Market Square. Food, shops (including Ripley's) was a couple of steps outside of the hotel.

Jason

Gorgeous historic hotel, right in the middle of San Antonio. We could see the Alamo from our window, and the river walk was a very short walk away. The historic features have been beautifully preserved - the Victorian lobby is particularly stunning. The bed was comfortable, the pool was lovely and the young woman serving poolside drinks was so friendly and efficient.

Rebecca

The staff was all around wonderful, very courteous, and worked with me on an extra roll away bed and a box fan for my room. The hotel itself is beautiful the lobby and gardens were really nice, even the payphone area was crazy to see (straight out of a 1940's film) lots of great things to see around every corner, but my favorite was the Menger Bar, def check that out!
